ok so i know how to go about this with the plasti gauge and what not. And from reading i know its easiest to do it using old bearings and this is how im going to do it for the rod bearings. But is it possible to measure the clearance for the main caps without bearings?

can i just order the bearings specified by the coding on the crank shaft...or is that taking a huge risk?
