Default B16a2 Cams??

I have a B16A2 EG civic VTI and i'm thinking of putting some stage 2 or 3 cams (something like jun2, jun3 or S2S2) I know i'm gonna have to change the valve springs and retainers and get it mapped properly.........

My Questions are
1.What type of power will i be looking at? (saying its mapped properly etc)
2.What type of 1/4 miles wud be poss?? (My car has a 99 S80 ITR LSD tranny in it and weights 1040lb's (w/o a driver) , i know its hard to say accuratly i'm just trying to get a basic idea!)

Other Engine mods......
*CAI
*4-1 DC sports Header
*de-cat and full exhaust (mongoose 2 1/4 mandrel bent)

With cams that aggressive, you won't get the most gains out of them without raising the compression ratio first. With raised compression and proper tuning, you should see upwards of 20 hp with the stage 2 cams and more with stage 3 cams.

cool, will i still get a resonable gain without increasing the compression?
I will do the rebuild eventually but untill then its original pistons!!

The short answer is "no" ... because of the cam overlap and dynamic compression, you need to raise your static compression (e.g., raise it from 10:1 to 12:1).

For JUN3 or S2S2, the minimum amount of compression you want is 10.8:1. More would be better to really make the cams shine. You'll also want to consider a better header and exhaust to allow enough exhaust flow. A larger TB and IM wouldn't hurt either with cams that aggressive.

With a b16, S2S2 cams, and all the proper supporting mods, you're looking at about mid 180s to the wheels and 115-120 tq.

Ok, so its gonna cost alot more than i expected then!
I'm torn between peiceing my own turbo kit together or doing cams......
Turbo looks to be cheaper at the moment (stock internals 9-10psi) and is going to give me more power..
Looks like i'm gonna go turbo.
thanks for the help guys.

Default Change of plan........

Ok heres the thing, I want my car to be a little quicker but i cant afford the turbo kit i'm peiceing together quite yet coz i'll be getting new driveshafts etc too.......
I really want to put a set of ITR cams in my B16a2....My freind will re-map the ecu for me but i'll need to raise the limiter to 8700rpm (like the ITR)
problem is i cant afford the valve springs aswell and there are no ITR ones going anywhere local (scrapyards etc)
Will i be ok on stock valvesprings or is it really that common/likely for valve float on the stock springs to occur? or is it just a 'saftey measure'?
It would only be for a few months........
Thanks for any help........Sorry if its a dumb question i just dont wanna be spending loads on cams when they'll be getting removed and sold soon anywayz

then why do it?

it seems like u want to half ass building ur engine which = to blown/fucked engine. keep it stock till u can afford ur turbo setup. stupid to do such things half way....

i know but i just wanna make it a lil bit quicker for now....i dont wanna blow the engine so if its a bit dodgy i wont do it......i was just wondering how common it was that valve float occurs on that rev limit with those cams?

I'm just getting bored with the performance and wanted to do somthing to perk me up again for now whilst the turbo parts build up.......
