So what exactly does "EGR Valve Lift Insufficient Detected" mean? The car is a 97 Acura 3.0 CL, diagnostic code P1491. Am I looking at something serious or hopefully something I can fix myself? Maybe someone here can point me in the right direction..

Your EGR valve probably just needs to be cleaned out. I would pick up some sort of shop manual to help you locate the valve, so you can clean it out.

You need to replace the EGR valve. The solenoid itself is bad. They're notorious on the honda v6. Make sure you get an OEM. Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to clean out the EGR port. Remove the intake manifold and you'll see a black carbon filled circle on the underside. Use carb clean to break down the carbon and start with a small drill bit by hand and clean out that port. Make sure to clean it thoroughly and not cut into the aluminum.
