Default Ecu/Elec management Q's

Ok heres the deal, I'm about to turbo my B16a2 EG civic.
I've found a turbo kit + injectors etc, but i still need a ECU.
I hear everyone talking about chrome and uberdata etc, i know i can get a hondata ECU but it would cost stupid money to get here in the UK! I dont have alot of money since i'm about to buy the turbo kit and injectors.
Also will the car run on the standard mapping with the turbo fitted??

Can someone plz explain to me what exactly uberdata and chrome etc is and how you get it + fit it etc. Also how do you change the mapping?? Its the only thing stopping me from buying the turbo kit!!

Any help appreciated, ste

It's hard to say because I don't know who distributes it over there in the UK. I'd take Crome over Uberdata anyday, but Hondata is still the #1 choice in my book. As far as it fitting, I don't know what you mean. They're all reflashes, you send your stock ECU in and they reflash it with their program, then plug and play.

And no, I would not run your car with standard mapping under forced induction. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

Crome and Uberdata are just programs that are used to modify Honda fuel and ignition maps. You will need the hardware plus some way to get the information from the computer to the chip.

You can download Uberdata and Crome from http://forum.pgmfi.org. All the hardware you need to get those functional is on www.moates.net.

Give Crome a try. I prefer it over Hondata any day.

Yeh i know that they are re-written chips but no one i know does it round here.......just wondered if any one knows were i could get the hardware and software over here so i could do it myself.
I know places that will re-map my ecu to mach my set-up, but they wont be re-programmable.
Looks like im gonna have to find a Hondata!!
Will a s100 be gud enough? and will i need any add ons for boosting??

I already gave you the links in my previous post. Everything you need hardware-wise is on www.moates.net.

Hondata will work, but you will need the S100 with boost. Even still, it is more expensive and you still have to have someone tune it for you.

i highly recommend paying the 150 for crome pro. the freeware doesnt allow you to datalog in crome. You have to use an alternate program in order to datalog.

you need the following parts from moates:
Uber1 chipping/socketing kit
Ostrich
HULOG datalogging cable
laptop (256k and 800mhz processor)
and a wideband o2 kit

you can download crome from www.tunewithcrome.com

I dont recommend tuning the car yourself if you have no idea what you are doing. It's really simple to figure out though if you just start reading about it and playing with the program. I been reading about it for 2 years and i just started Tuning this past week on my car and my friends cars.
