Default Knock, Knock...

Sorry if this is a repetitive q but can anyone explain what exactly is knock in an engine? Is it due to something with the turbo? How do you prevent it? What harm does it do to the car? Thanks in advance.

There's all sorts of knocks associated with all sorts of parts in the engine. Your best bet is find out its frequency (if you can). That will narrow it down to head or block.

Depends on what knock you are talking about. A metal knocking associated with the motor, or sometimes people call detonation "knocking" also known as pinging. Detonation can be tuned out. It is caused when there is an extreme lean condition in the motor, from not having enough fuel.
