Same Engine - Different (Very Different) Oil?
Hi,
I just went to www.castrol.uk.co (Catrol's web site in UK) and clicked on (bottom left corner) link "what oil should I use". I found out that for 2003+ 4cyl Accord Engine (I-vtec etc.) they recommend 0W-40 oil while here (US) 5W-20 is recommended.
Now, I know I have been going on about this but this really makes me believe that the only reason we (in the USA) are being told to use 5W-20 is for fuel economy purposes while Euro market gets (a better) recommendation to use oil that is better for the engine's longetivity?
Can anyone explain this to me? Am I missing something?
Thx

the oil weight rating determins the thickness of the oil.
10/30 for example has a viscosity rating of 10 when cold and 30 when warmed up....(both at a standard temp)....
Usually climate determins which oil you should use....

where in the us do you live... i'd stick with x-w30 x either being 5 or 10 depending on your climate, 5 for colder climates (temps go below 20 during cold season) or 10 for warmer climates
