Default What does thevtec solenoid look like???

I think I have a bad solenoid after reading MANY MANY post about problems with vtec.... after 5500rpm... it may or may not come on.... depending on how it feels that day and if it doesn't come on ... it feel like the engine just quits at about 7000rpm.... any help would be appreciated!!!

It's on the passenger side of the car, next to the head and distributor. It's a small cylinder with a couple wires going to it. Can't really describe it other than that.

Put 12v directly to the solenoid, and see if it clicks. If it clicks, it's good.
