Default sputtering civic

Hey,
for a few months now ive noticed that with light accelerator pressure my civic hx will occasionally suptter/jerk, and the only way to run smoothly is to either release all accelerator pressure or apply a lot more. there is no sputtering with heavy accelerator pressure, but in all gears (5-spd manual) it suptters with light accelerator pressure. does anyone know what this might be a symptom of, and how can i fix it?

thanks guys.

Check plugs/wires/cap/rotor.

Ahhh, my motor was doing the same thing..... I checked everything, couldnt find a problem.... i even had it on a diagnostics machine coz i was sure it was a faulty sensor....but no, in the end it was the slightest header gasket leak. Fitted a new header and gasket and sorted it.
I'd still check the things AF said just to be sure tho.
