Random Stalling Problem
First post on this forum and hopefully someone can help me.
I got a 92 Prelude Si with 155k miles. This problem started a few weeks ago while I was driving on the highway. I was going about 70mph all of a sudden the car just stalled. Luckily I was by my exit and manage to pull the car over.
When the car stalled the engine light came on and my radio, fan, and light were running. After a few minutes I started the car back up and it ran fine like nothing had happen and of course no CEL. I drove it straight to the dealer and they replaced my ignition switch. After I got the car back a couple day later it did it again.
It seems to do this when the car is warmed up. But everytime it stalled, I am able to start the car up again after I pull over, stop the car, and turn off and turn on the ignition. I don't want to take it back to the dealer since they told me problem like this is hard to find and they would just replace all the parts that they think might be causing the problem.
This happen to me yesterday again and this time I manage to get it into a parking lot. I pop the hood to check my fuel pressure gauge and it read 40 psi. So this make me think the pump is still working. Can someone confirm that this is a good method for checking the functionality of my fuel pump?
I have on order new fuel filter, rotor, cap, main relay, and coil. My wires, cap, and rotor were just replaced this summer, but I figure I'll redo the cap and rotor anyway. Can someone give me some suggestion as to what other part of the car I should look into?
The next part on my list is the fuel pump.
PS: My distributor was replace 65k miles ago so I don't think it is the problem.
Thanks
