Default ecu?

ok.. i have a 00 civic dx, sohc d15y7. i'm wondering if i can get an ecu chip for it and where i could get it? and if i do get one, do i need to do anything or is it just 'plug and play'? it changes the fuel and timing maps, rev limiter, and can remove the speed limiter -- am i correct? is there more to it? i'm still new to the whole "car" knowledge thing and would like any help i can get. i believe it's an OBD2.. someone also tell me what that is -- a newer generation from OBD0/OBD1? and also where can i locate it in my car..

sorry if i ask too many questions any information will do, i enjoy learning.

thanks in advance,

there are not any chips for your ecu. It uses a flash memory system unlike the chipable obd1 ecus.

There is a harness you can buy to convert your obd2b car to obd1, and then you can run a chipped obd1 ecu, but to be honest, it's not gonna help your engine in any way. Unless you have portwork, high compression pistons, and some camshafts, or turbo, there is no real reason to mess with the factory d16y7 maps.
