i just dropped a sir2 b16 in my g3 teg 4door and my vtec doesnt seem to b loud or its not engagin but at about 5300rpm it starts to pull hard... everyone is telling me my vtec should be well noticable sound wise i hear a slight change in tone but its not loud any ideas?????

 

if you are getting a hard pull then you are most likely engaging into v-tec honda's just dont pull like that in high rpms at least the three that i have owned dont so....

 

if it's a stock motor don't expect VTEC to make a loud noise when it kicks in...if you want VTEC to seem louder get a cold-air intake or a short ram and get some exhaust stuff...if you have more money, get some nice skunk2 or crower cams.

stock, the VTEC in B16s is quieter than in B18Cs (as far as I've ever seen), so it won't be hugely loud until you mod it somewhat.

 

also get something like a vtec controler or neptune hondata ect.... to lower when vtec engauges ull notice vtec even more

 

there is ur answer u have a b16a, its good engine but i wouldnt say it was a stock beast, vtec isnt suppose to scream, however in some cars it does because of other modifcations, as for lowering when vtec engages i wouldnt recommend it, honda set it at that rpm for a reason in stock engine... leave it there till u have some things done to ur car and have someone do it for u or atleast least more about it... there is no reason to lower or to even set it to go higher rpms just in case ur thinking that till u have some work done to it....

i will say though my type r engines were loud when vtec engages... of coruse u are talking about a type r...
