How does the distributor cap and rotor look? Spark plug wires? Spark plugs?

Is it even getting spark?

this is the thing, i took it toa shop to have it looked at and they are just holding the car, they said it is probly some wiring issue and want me to write a check for like 500 bucks to fix it, it is an off and on problem, first they said there was no problem then it wouldnt start again, i will just tow the car home tonight, and check for spark and fuel, my main concern is if the main relay went out and was replaced and now it needs another one could something be frying the main relay??

Yeah, that would be my guess. It sounds like the ICM is on its way out.

If you can hear the fuel pump whine when you turn the key, your main relay is fine.

ok i can feel the main relay click when i turn the key on, but i still have not had the chance to check if its a fuel problem or spark problem

one think i know is i tried to start it using starting fluid and still nothing so i am definatly going towards spark!! i know the disties are notorious for going out on thhe d15 so i am wondering if i should swap out the distie

i cannot hear the fuel pump though, but i dont know if thats normal in the del sol

definately check to see if its sparking. u have 2 choices on doing so...

A: pull out your plugs and reinserting them into your spark plug wires, then attempt to start the car and have a friend watch for a spark.
or
b: hook up a timing light and see if it flashes when u crank the motor.

OK...... CHECK THIS OUT

i went to the shop , they charged me 30 bucks to look at it and i dont even think they did that well i was under the dash with t he key on and just for freakin thrills i was like moving around wires, all of a sudden the fuel pump kicked on, i am guessing when they removed the old alarm and rewired the system they have a few loose wires there, i will spend like 4 hours soldering every dam wire there

but i still have a problem car runs a little rought on low rpm, i am thinking this is becuse it is a d15 engine with the d16 vtec ecu any info would be helpful
