Beautiful, I love how the engine bay turned out. I may have to do the say while my enigne is out. Mines going to take a bit more work to be as clean as yours (previous owner sprayed it with flat black, but hey couldn't beat the price for a hatch with a b18c already)..I'm going a different engine route but in the same boat (track only car).....great job so far keep the pics coming as you get them.

HatchVX 09-13-2005 01:49 AM

that looks good. Are u planing on putting a fiberglass front end on??

k-series 09-13-2005 08:23 AM

Yes, the MB one piece front end will be ordered soon as well as the FAL plexi race kit. :)

Steve

The glass is all out. I'll be doing the last of the weight removal clean up this week and then it's body prep time.

Coming along. :)

Steve

HatchVX 09-21-2005 04:21 AM

why did u buy an auto radiator? Does it just hand off the chain like that?? I would think that would be to small of a radiator for the k series.

k-series 09-21-2005 05:28 AM

That's the stock radiator size for an EG. It may be too small, but this is only for 1/4 mile runs. It's hanging from the chain because I don't have the OEM gromits for the Karcepts kit.

Ordered them today (that and the lower mounts are being held in place by clamps and need to be adjusted a little).

Also, MANY k swapped cars are running an EG radiator. Hence the market Karcepts have for making relocation brackets. :)

Steve

HatchVX 09-21-2005 05:16 PM

U could go with a Del Sol VTEC Dual core. Its the same size just twice as thick

k-series 09-22-2005 02:19 AM

If cooling really becomes an issue, I'll spring for the 3 core alum rad. I just don't think that it will.

Steve

k-series 09-26-2005 03:53 PM

Well, I decided to save a few bucks (a few hundred for that matter) and paint my own car.

Started with this:

http://www.k-series.com/Images/Proje...EGK1320-90.jpg

http://www.k-series.com/Images/Proje...EGK1320-91.jpg

http://www.k-series.com/Images/Proje...EGK1320-92.jpg

http://www.k-series.com/Images/Proje...EGK1320-93.jpg

I primed it with Rustoleum Automotive Sandable primer. Sanded it down, and put on 3 coats of flat black. The pictures below look bad since the car is still drying from me wet sanding it. I couldn't wait since it was getting dark. There are a few places I want to go over, but for $100, I could care less.

This is not a show queen, so if you don't like it, that's fine. I'll still whoop your ass up and down the 1320...and look GOOD doing it. ;)

http://www.k-series.com/Images/Proje...EGK1320-95.jpg

Steve

HatchVX 09-26-2005 05:05 PM

Looking good, are u planing on useing a flat clear to protect it?? Whats next now?

k-series 09-30-2005 05:51 AM

The "flat clear" has the same protective effect as another coat of paint. So, that's all I did. :)

Ok, in an effort to save money I have modified the rear hatch/trunk, primered, painted and re-installed the tail lights. I just don't have the extra $ for a fiberglass unit.

I also sanded and filled the rear bumper where there was some damage. I'll be primering and painting it this weekend.

Other things on this weekend's to do list:

Door Panel and floor templates
Cleaning of the interior (Overspray and such)
Remounting of my seat
Template for my gauge panel/cluster

Now, I have a question. Since I need a battery cutoff due to the relocation, can I mount the battery ANYWHERE inside the car? The cutoff switch will be in the back, but since I removed most of the floor, the sealed box I have is a little bit too big for that area (even though I have th worlds smallest battery ;) ). Would I be better off finding a spot for this thing under the hood or just move the box to my "passenger" area?

Suggestions or comments?

Let me wipe the drool off my keyboard...

Should have left it green...honda green represent!!

If you ever bring it to Texas, I'd like to see it run

b1886crx 10-08-2005 07:05 PM

you can mount the box anywhere in the car as long as it is sealed

That might happen, my dad lives outside of Houston. :)

Steve

dubcac 10-11-2005 01:46 PM

Are you going to dip into the motor at all, or just run it with bolt ons?

k-series 10-12-2005 07:14 PM

Initially...that's up in the air. I have plans for a fully built NA motor, but I need to get everything else taken care of first.

Moved and welded the rad brackets to the driver's side of the engine bay. The Rad is now physically mounted with my Karcepts relocation bracket.

I'll be finishing the templates and the last of the interior stuff tomorrow (I'm planning anyway).

Steve

k-series 10-19-2005 04:26 AM

Door and floor templates were dropped off yesterday. FAL window race kit and SSR stainless header/megaphone exhaust were ordered as well.
Slowly but surely....

Not quite a full semi circle, the base is flat and then angles to the bottom of the semi. Hard to tell from the pics.

The straws are only there for spacing, the actually brackets will need to be well thought out so as not to interfere with the gauges.
