Default cheap hp?

allright, i did a thread about going turbo on my pretty much stock gsr motor now i'd like to know if there are anyways to do some somewhat cheap hp gains on my motor cuz 5th gear lags too much! also my check engine light came on and i'm pretty sure i know why it came on, but my question is will the check engine light come back on if the problem still exists after i clear the code out? i would assume so, but how soon is more of the real question...

If you fix the problem creating the CEL and reset the ECU, the light shouldn't come back ever.

If you want 5th gear not to lag anymore, start on your turbo project. There isn't much you can do with 5th gear since the gear isn't designed for acceleration, but rather a comfortable cruising. Best advice for now: don't shift into 5th unless you feel like cruising or downshift to 4th if you need the power.

that's what i figured on the 5th gear deal, i just need to find a steadier job to get my money coming in for the turbo! will the check engine light come back on relatively soon if it's not fixed? cuz i don't want to reset the ecu if it wont come back on again cuz i can't remember the precise code and i'd need it to fix the problem if it's truely not fixed...

It depends on the problem. If it is something like a defective O2 sensor circuit, it will come on right at startup. If it is something like a clogged vtec solenoid screen, it will come on when vtec is activated.

Get the code, look up the troubleshooting procedures in the Integra service manual in the civic forum sticky, and then fix it.

Yeah if there is a problem and you reset the ecu, the cel will most likely come back on if the problem still exists.

Speculation will not get you anywhere....

Check the code: http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/06.php

Compare it to the engine code FAQ: http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/05.php
