Default b16a CYL sensor

My ECU is spitting out a code 9 (cylinder sensor). I've been told that its located inside the distributor. I popped it open, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, or how to replace it. Is it something that can be swapped out, or do I have to replace the whole distributor?

I see some little clear plastic thing that has 4 wire leads coming off of it. That's about the only thing that I might be able to call a sensor!!!

Maybe it's the circular thing that I would have called a "rotor" on an older car??

The rotor is out at the end of the distributor shaft, same as in older cars.

The coil & 'ignitor' are easy to see, under there.

Then there's the 3 timing sensors, CYP, CKP, & TDC (code 9 is CYP). Those are little magnetic sensors that read from star-wheels way down in the distributor housing.

Problem is, I don't think you can buy just those sensors. You have to buy a distributor. Maybe the best you can do is buy a distributor without the coil or ignitor included.

Here's what you need to do before comfirming the sensor is bad. Good luck.
