Default jdm engines, and replacing parts

how different is a jdm h22 and a usdm h22?

I ask this because I have a friend with a jdm b16 swapped into his civic, and when he had to replace his alternator, it took a while to source a JDM alternator since the USDM one wasn't compatable. Is this the same throughout the engines?

thanks

It probably depends on the part.

Really? my usdm alternator bolted up just fine.
The only difference between the usdm and jdm honda motors is usually the compression and emission crap. Externally they are the same.
