Good price or rip off?(D16Y8 head)
I'm looking into buying a 99 Civic EX head and putting it on my '00 LX. The head has 3200 miles on it, has ferrea tit. valves, springs, and retainers, ported and polished and a 5 angle job. Head also comes with intake manifold and TB. Also for sale with it is a crane cam(#252-0010) and a skunk2 cam gear. Let me know what you think of these prices? Low or High?
D16Y8 built head - $700
Crane Cam - $400
Cam Gear - $50
EX ecu and harness - $180
Total - $1330

What's up?
A lot of scratch for a SOHC, if you want to keep your stock motor, might be worth considering. Who did the head work and does he have reciepts. It should run strong but might need more than a beefed up head. Did he give you any dyno charts or timeslips for his car. Only other thing I recommend is find an EX tranny (short, more aggressive gear ratios) and consider maybe getting some internal engine upgrades (higher compression pistons). Probably going to end up spending as much a B16A2 swap (motor out of the '99+ Si's) will cost you though, for about the same HP. Seeya.

scratching is right, the valve job and port polish together cant be more than $300. Unless your a total "SOHC" performance freak, I would pass it up, something like that if your not going to stick with that motor and continue to build it up, you'll lose out in the end.
I bought a whole ex swap AEM everything, port polish, valve job, 6 puck, t.b.bored, headers, for $800
Those internals are what get expensive, It's up to you..peace
