how involved is doing a valve adjustment
i basically just had my head rebuilt and after i installed it, i have a ticking noise. i was told to do a valve adjustment to remedy this and was wondering how involved is this. what are the basics of doing it? any info at all will help
Here is a link for a DIY on Team-Integra.net. I don't know what kind of car you have but this is just a basic walkthrough. http://www.team-integra.net/sections...?ArticleID=485
I don't know any sites that have a DIY but I am sure yahoo will yield some to you. I had a 90 Accord at one time and it was very simple...almost the same procedure outlined in the link I provided.
Procedure is pretty much the same, you just have to find what the proper clearances are for your engine. Maybe listed on a sticker under the hood? But remember...
Honda DOHC valve clearances are listed for between the cam lobe & the rocker. For SOHC engines Honda lists the clearance at the valve stem.
I didn't look at that procedure, but I'm sure it says the engine has to be COLD. This is important.
