Default Vortech fmu question

My buddy will be using a vortech fmu. I am really not familiar with it but does the stock fpr still have to be used or can it just be replaced with the vortech fmu?
The only reason I ask is cause he wants me to tap the stock fuel rail to supply the fmu but in order for me to do this I would be eliminating the stock fpr.
I am running a aeromotive 1:1 so eliminating the stock fpr was not a problem on my setup but I need advice about his. This is for a d16z6 turbo setup.
Thanks

The fmu goes post fpr, so yes you keep the stock (or aftermarket) fuel pressure reg.
The fmu will not control idle fuel pressure, it only comes into play once boost is detected. The inlet to the fmu is the outlet of the stock (or aftermarket) fuel press reg (fuel return line) and the outlet continues on to the tank.
