Default Which BOV should i buy?

Well, i did a search and noticed (like in the thread just below this on this page), that my greddy kit does not come with a BOV.... (when i opened the box i searched frantically for it and noticed it wasn't there. then i did some research on the internet and finally realized it doesn't come with one).

ok, here's my dilemma. i am completely NEW to turbo systems and do not know what kind of BOV is right for my application and personal tastes. every thread that came up on a search was just general questions like "which is the best", etc..

well i'm not concerned with which is the overall best - i want the best for my application. (in other words if i can spend 100 bucks a good BOV, why would i want to spend 400 on a fancy one?)

i have a d15b vtec that is running the greddy turbo kit for the '92-'95 civic... i have an IC setup as well.. probably will be running between 6-10 pounds of boost, depending on how much i build up the motor (won't go over 8 if i don't change the internals).

which BOV would work for me? i heard people recommend the Greddy Type S a lot, but i also heard that was loud. i am not big into the "chirp".... i don't mind a small or hushed "whoosh", but the chirp is a bit much for me. the nice whooshing of the old Grand Nationals is more along what i like...

obviously you can't listen to the sounds of them online.

can anyone recommend one for me?

greatly appreciated!

oh yeah and at 8 lbs of boost, do i need to upgrade the injectors? thanks!

they all do the same thing. it all comes down to personal preference. get whatever looks 'cool' to you and within your price range.

brands to look at:
greddy
hks
tial

thanks, but i'm more concerned with performance to my desires over "looks".

i checked a lot out on ebay and the recurring theme seems to be "loud" next to each description. i want to try to avoid loud, or at least get one that is adjustable. i like the quieter "whoosh"

I would recommend getting the XS RFL blow-off valve. Gives off a nice swoosh not sequential aka "chirp" like your talking about.

I have the Greddy Type-S BOV and it is a bit chirpy under normal driving (when still in vacuum) but once you hit the boost, it lets out a mean whoosh. If I could have done it differently, I would have gone for the HKS SSQV because it doesn't leak at idle like the Type-S and most other valves. The idle would be much smoother and the mixture wouldn't be as rich. They are all adjustable, so any would do. It is all a personal preference as to what sounds best to you.

Here is a page where you can hear the different blow off valves: http://www.935motorsports.com/bov.htm.

The clip of the Supra with the Greddy Type-S is the one that sold me on that BOV.

And if you don't even want the noise, you can recirculate the valve back into the intake tract to acheive better spool up and smoother idle.
