Default Why does it turn off?

Ok, so my car is in the shop, cuz they just put an imported D15b2 (91 Civic hatch) and I had to travel about 20 miles to bring the car to the shop. Anyways, when I was driving it to the shop, the car wouldn't turn off. Now that the new engine is on, the mechanic said that the car stands for about 10 to 15 minutes, and then it turns off. They test it before they can give it back to you, but he said he turned it on to make sure it don't get hot, but that is turns off in about 15 minutes. Any ideas?

Do you unknowingly have a turbo timer installed in the car? That is the only thing that strikes me.

You know, you would think maybe one of the mods I have on the car, but my car has no mods at all. I got it from my friend, and he had it TOTALLY stock. I just picked it up, and took it straight to the shop. There is no mod at all. They are putting another engine on, and they are going to try it tomorrow, but I would like any ideas on what it could be. Maybe it was a bad engine, maybe the imported engines aren't going along with a USDM car. I don't know. They do does kinds of things is that shop so I would think that they covered all the bases of matching everything up. Well, any ideas would help, but we'll see tomorrow if it turns off.

Ok, so you would think mechanics would have a little more common sense than this. The first thing that came to my mind was either the gas, or electricity, cuz that's the only thing that would cause it, but I would think they can figure that out. So I didn't bother to tell them, and so I didn't mention anything. Well, I come to find out that the other engine they put in was also doing the same thing. So, at the end, the guy told me it was the alternator!!!! Can you believe that?!?!? That's one of the first thing that came to my mind, but thought they can figure it out if it was that. Well, they put another battery on the car, and since then, the car is running fine. Thanks a lot for your help, and next time something happens like this to you, make sure you tell them if they check every posibility before they swap the engine.

Do I have this correct?
You had problems with your car not shutting off so you bought a new motor and had it installed to remedy the problem? Please tell me thats not correct.

BTW if your bringing your vehicle to a shop, shouldn't you notify them of any problems that you may be having. I'm sure it would be make the bill a bit smaller so they arn't spending quality time troubleshooting a problem that was already existing...but hey it's you money not mine

So you take the key out the ignition, and the car stays on for awhile before turning off? You sure it's not an ignition or electrical problem?
