Default Is nitrous safe?

I have an 03 Civic EX, D17A2. The only thing I've done is add an AEM V2 and a Tsudo Cat Back. I'm looking at putting nitrous on it but a friend today gave me advice not to. I'd love to add a turbo kit obviously and if I can find one in my price range, even used, I'll buy it. But I'm also considering nitrous if I can't afford it. But this car is my daily driver and I really can't afford to lose it. I have a Harley, but it's not quite Harley weather yet. I don't race alot but I'd like to be able to keep up if I'm challanged

What is everyone's opinion on nitrous???

It is safe assuming it is tuned well and you don't abuse it. But I am wondering about why you want to do this. Are you doing any racing or is it for shits and giggles? If it is for the latter, I wouldn't bother. Save for the turbo.

IMO it's for that once in a while where you need more. Like on the on ramp of a freeway or something. Repeated abuse will be bad.

Totally agreed. If you want constant power, look into a turbo.

If you need more power on a freeway onramp, you need to find a better car or at least a better engine.

I'm mostly just doing it for shits and giggles....I'll probably go with a Zex Wet Kit. It sounds like if I get it professionally installed and dont mess with it, there's really not a way for me to abuse that setup. I wouldn't purposely abuse it.....but newbies (me for instance) can find ways to mess shit up....

Newbies, and seasoned modifiers alike, get hooked on boost. Once the giggle gas is on there you'll probably start using it more and more unless you can find a way to restrain yourself. It's just like installing an adjustable boost controller on a turbo setup, you always say "one more psi!" until the engine pops.

Is the Zex kit as safe as they say it is? If I have someone that knows what they're doing install it and I just leave it as is, should I be okay? I just can't live with it anymore...I raced my girl who was driving her Tahoe and that bitch had the nerve to tell me my car wasn't fast!!! It isn't....but still....the nerve...good thing she put out later !!!!! So I really want to get the Zex kit and just want to make sure it would be my best bet as a noob!!
