Default newbie question, help appreciated!

Hello all, I have a 94 integra and am having a list of troubles with it. My question is how can I get the codes from the engine and where can I check what those codes represent? Does this haveto be done at a dealer or are there special tools req'd?
I sure would love a definative listing of exactly what the hell is wrong with this car to plan some repair work, otherwise throwing money at it becomes annoying and expensive for sure!

thanks for any help

For your integra, ignore the part where he says the carpeting. Go to the far right edge of the glovebox, where it meets the kick panel. Follow that seam down until it ends. The wire is tucked up in that corner when you get to the bottom edge of the glovebox.

It's the same on the civic and teg. Or at least you just described where it's at on a civic.
