Default Engine Blew Out New 2000 GSR Motor

I have a 95 GSR 4 door and and my brother blew the motor intead of repairing it since its has over a 100,000 miles on it he's replacing it with a brand new 2000 GSR motor. A friend of mine told me that with all 96 GSR's and up after about 30,000 miles the piston rings are gonna fry. He's a honda specialist and tells me that a loy of the OBD2's come to his shop to get it repaired and its the same thing with all of them, piston ring fried, and told me if i was getting another GSR motor get OBD1's they're supposedly better. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm just wondering what yo guys think cause i don't want an engine thats gonna mess up after 30,000 miles but if he's wrong then i dont want to miss out on brand new engine... If you guys could help me out on this I'll appreciate it, thanks.

dude, he fed you a whole crock pot of boiling bull shit. why would the piston rings fry in the later models and not the earlier models, its all made the same in the bottom end. Also your friend is not such the honda specialist if he would tell you this. you may need to find a new "friend".

I see these guy driving their Teg's around here at 7,000 Rpms for no reason. They just drive down the street going BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
And these guys are probably the type to go, "why did my engine blow? It's a Honda engine."
