Default simple tire question...

it's time for new tires and i'm looking around right now at some dunlops and pirellis- they are almost the same price-wise but i am looking at which one will last longer- dunlops treadwear is 460 and the pirelli's are 360. so my question is which one is better? is the lower the number, the slower they wear??? thanks-

i just did a comparison between the pirelli PZERO NERO, dunlop SP Sport 9000, and sumimoto HRZ II Z-rated tires from www.tirerack.com. i'm runnin the sumimoto's on my car and you can't beat em for the price. they're about $30 cheaper per tire but the ratings are about the same. the sumimoto tires out handle the dunlop and pirelli tires, have a better dry traction rating, and have a better treadwear rating. just a little sometin for you to think about.

The higher the treadwear rating, the longer a tire will last. A 460 treadwear tire will last about 27% longer than a 360 treadwear tire.

nitto makes a good tire they also make a drag radial a lot of times if your looking for a tire that hooks up sheck out the temp and traction ratings a is good aa is realy good and checkout the compound rating a soft tire wears out pretty quick a hard compound tire tends to last a lot longer
