Im new to the forum and I just bought a 97 DX hatch. I was wondering if K&N makes a filter for this model and where I could pick up a mass air meter or somethin like that. I dont have big plans for the car but I just wanna make it run a little better. thanks.

 

K&N makes a filter for just about everything.

And your car doesn't have a mass air flow meter like Fords.

 

ok. and im assuming i could find an intake for it then. maybe even a header or something would be nice. where would u guys recomend ordering/buying stuff from. I didnt know it didnt have a meter. im used to v8's. thanks .

 

You're better off getting a different engine in there to mod, or at least a different intake manifold setup if you're trying to make power.

If you're trying to increase fuel mileage, just about any D-series header will fit that engine.

 

yeah im not trying to make power out of it its just my winter car. I just wanna spice it up a little bit. is this a D16 then? also what generation is my civic im clueless about imports.

It's either a D15 or D16, should be a stamp on the front of the engine block down near where the tranny bolts up.

 

its a 1.6 litre so then its a d16 im guessing my friend has that in his 91 civic si. is there a major power drop off? whats the stock power im looking at?

 

Well, if you're used to V8s the number is gonna sound tiny, but the 91 civic hatch si engine puts out in the neighborhood of 100 horsepower. I'm assuming the non-hatch engine is the same.
