D series motor question
I'm getting a 1.6 motor but the piston rings are fried, is it possible to put the 1.6 head onto my 1.5 block...the head is non vtec if that helps and also if it is possible will it have any pros/cons?
thanks in advance for the help.

Its a DX block??? The Si and DX head are exactly the same except for the cam so yes it will fit. BUT I believe the DX pistons dont have the same valve relifs as the Si. Yank the head and see if each piston(on the DX) has 4 valve relifs. If they do then it will work.
I have a 92 CX hatch....when the hg finally blew at 80,000 miles I pulled off the 8 valve head and realized that the pistons are set up for the 16 valve head as well. I then made a call and was able to pick up the 16 valve non-vtec head off a 96 del-sol along with the distributer and intake manifold...
I used the head with the stock cx exhaust and intake and it worked fine with the exception of having to slot the dizzy more to get the timing retarded enough to get it to the stock timing mark. Other than that it did make the hatch respond quicker than the 70 hp it originally had. Now I am almost ready to boost it which will get me closer to the 200 hp mark.
Also make sure that you use the proper timing belt for the head your using.
Even though my block was the 1.5 my head was the 96 1.6 and I had to get the timing belt for the 96 1.6 to work.

The cam gear will work but also keep in mind that you can only retard the camshaft so much. Since my last post I have slotted the dizzy more than enough to get the timing retarded past the factory setting which helps when boosting. My cx is now boosted and as soon as I can get my new o-rings for my rc injectors and alittle more tuning I should be putting down around 180hp at the wheels with the saab turbo I am using.
Remarkably with alittle higher fuel pressure and the stock injectors I am able to boost at 2-3 psi without going lean.
Not bad for a homemade pieced together kit.
