the b20 head flowing right, it's a very resrictive head.

the vtec head would be the easiest but then you'd still need new pistons... this is the reason i'm starting with a GSR block and boring it to 84mm and then going from there with the upgrades. the b20 isnt a high HP engine it's really made for the torque to get the car, seriously, uphill the b20 with it's low HP will still beat out a comparable car with a b18 in it.

the internals on the b20 wernt made to take high rpm's so not only would you would need alot of work to convert to vtec.

the only answer is a turbo or super charger, which i don't recomend on b20's, because of the restrictive head, but to summarize it this is your only real option for that kinda power without a rebuild and vtec:

T3/T4 Turbo with major headwork to allow for better flow, as well higher-rpm cams (ie perfect at 4-5k instead of 3-4k, that way your timing perfect near your peak rather than in the low end like io believe it is)

or you can use high compression pistons, but, eh, without a rebuild you might as well scratch that off the list, and if you were going to change the pistons you might as well

and also: isnt there a smaller than stock headgasket he could use to raise the comp ratio without new pistons? (i'm nmot talking major hear, but .1 IS major when you're boosting)
