88 Accord Auto trans, stalls in gear
Posted this in the Accord forum, hopefully it's ok to cross post.
My girlfriend has a 1988 Accord, 2.0l, auto trans. When starting cold, it starts and runs, until you put it into gear (any gear, reverse, drive, whatever), then it stalls, or chugs and acts like it wants to stall. It seems to do this only on cold starts. Also, the car has a hesitation from a stop, and that seems to occur all the time (temp not a factor).
Before i met her, she had the Honda dealer put a carb and base plate gasket on it to solve the problem. It didn't. I'm a Ford mechanic, and although i don't mind trying to tackle this one, i must admit i don't know much about import carburated drivability issues.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Todd
