NOISES CV or Transmission? - need help !!!
Hi everyone,
I just bought a 1996 Honda Accord 2door 5speed 4 cylinder.
When I bought the car the owner told me both cv joints are bad and I can see both outer cv boots are broken and leaking. when I test drove the car i heard horrible screeching, grinding, and vibration from both sides. So I thought it was just the cv boots. I negotiated a good price and bought it.
So I bought a set of re-man cv-axel shafts (complete) from Shucks. After I install them I still get big grinding and screeching noises from the ride side (passenger side). I suspect that maybe I installed the axels wrong, so I jack up the car again and rotate the tires trying to pinpoint where the noise is from. The driver side (left side) is noise free, then when I turned the right side it seems that the noise is from the transmission!!!
I thought maybe the new cv-shaft is bad, but I can swear the noise (grinding, screeching) is from the transaxel. It sounded like a bad bearing or something, it does not turn smoothly, it grinds and screeches.
I am lost right now, I have bought new cv shafts but now I don't know how to proceed, could it be the transmission?? The transmission seems to be working fine, gears shifts smoothly and has a new clutch disc.
what's the next step? please help...
p.s. I have a used manual tranny from a 1994 Honda Accord, will this tranny
fit the 1996? is there anything that needs to be done or just bolt it on?
Thank you for all your help.
