Default 88 Legend Junkyard Turbo

I am in the process of putting togther a Junkyard tubo kit for my 88 Acura Legend. I had a couple of questions, first off how much boost do you think the stock internals of this motor can take? Will i need a fuel management system to keep the car running right as to not throw a code from to much pressure in the manifold? Is the any advantage (besides not haveing to get out and go under the hood) to a non manual boost controller? How do you hook up the boost guage?

Here is the car if anybody cares, I have already doen a Five speed swap on this car and it has a good amount of torque.

Thanks for any help

Wow, you're going to have fun turboing that engine. Besides the turbo(s) and a BOV, there isn't much you can get at a junkyard for it. Are your exhaust manifolds easily convertable for turbo use?

I wouldn't run over 8 pounds on that engine, just because I don't know what it can take.

Boost gauges tap into the intake side. It's a either an electrical sender of a vacuum line, easy as pie.

Electronic boost controllers are much more presise, and programable. Not to mention about $400 more expensive.

The car is going to be tons of fun with a turbo not to mension quick :chuckles: . The manifolds are perfect, but I think the only problem I am going to have is space for everything. I think to begin with I will go with the manual boost contoller and 7 PSI or maybe even 6 just to be safe. Thanks for the help I will keep you all updated.

OH yeah, front wheel drive V6... space is a concern. :lmfao:

If you get it done, I'd love to hear about it, and what parts you used.

Did you shave some of the rear lights? That car looks weird for some reason.

Is it a V6 or an I5 ? I wouldn't **** with it, too clean. If you want to turbo something grab an EF or something.

It is a V6, I know it is much eaisier to turbo a b-series motor. I already own this car and will be cheaper to turbo this than to buy a hatch drop a b-series in it and turbo it.

have you tested your compression lately? With a car that old, I would do that first before even thinking about turboing it.

As for everything else... good luck. :happysad:

The hole motor has been checked for durability, and for any problems with the added turbo. I think the only problem I might have is the oil pan getting sucked dry at full boost because the pump is not very good.
