I have an 88 CRX and is it true than one of the radiator fans functions only for the a/c?

It wouldn't suprise me. A lot of cars are set up like that, due to the extra strain an A/C compressor puts on the engine when engaged.

Don't CRX's have a side-by-side radiator/condensor?

If you have 2, I'd say that one is for the radiator and the other is for the condensor. That's how the EGs/EKs are.
