Default 89-90 CRX, engine swap?

Hey all,

First off, I'm a newbie here. I'm from northwest Washington and am a very avid car nut. I am restoring a Chevy pickup which is my true passion, but with gas prices, I need to get a car that gets better gas mileage...

Anyway, I have a chance to get a 89-90 Honda CRX SI for free. The catch is that the timing belt broke, and messed up the engine. I'm guessing that the valvetrain went crazy and valves started hitting pistons etc...

Anyway, If I get this car, i'll be looking to replace the motor with another identical one, since i don't really need power in a daily driver, and would liek to have an easy as possible swap... that is, unless a bigger/better engine is just as easy to put in.

How hard is it to do an engine swap in one of these? And where would you guys get a good used engine? Ebay? Junkyards?

Thanks!

not to be mean... but try a search to find info on swaps...there are several sticky threads listed that you can delve through

also the 2g crx cover a range from 88-91 with several changes between years depending on the model

you could spend about $2500 and bolt in another 50-60 hp.
Or at least put a ZC in it.

slammed91-hatch, How many miles are on the engine? Has it been maintained? How much do you want for it?

Thanks!

If you want to put a Si engine into the car my suggestion is to have someone who is gonna sell you for a decent price..if not and you are gonna order one you might as well order a ZC or 92-95 SOHC VTEC...If you have any more questions feel free to PM me and I will help you out as much as possible...Good Luck and Have Fun!

the engine has 160k on it. it ran well when i pulled it out of my car. Im not looking to make much off of it, more interested in getting it out of the garage. I'd take 200 for it.
