Everytime a thread like this pops up someone always has to chime in that there is a magical DOHC VTEC engine they sell in Japan (I think a B18C1 but sometimes the story is a B16A) but I'm pretty well convinced it's just a figment of somebody imagination (it probably exists, but I've never seen for sale or installed in a car). Honestly, if you want VTEC, your either converting to a manual or selling your car and buying a manual version.
both of them exist.

will a VAFC engage vtec on that setup? i am currently working on the same setup. also, someone else told me the auto ECU from a EX model civic will work also. but i dunno. im looking for help on this too. there has got to be a way without the manual swap.
theres a guy on Ebay stores that can chip you an ECU that will work with the auto tranny and still activate Vtec. you tell him how you want ur setup to be (rev limit, Vtec engage etc..) he wants $200 shipped (4-6 days shipping) www.racingchips.com , just e-mail the guys, sounds like a nice guy.
thats the route im going.

Holy dead threat ressurection batman....
Anyways, I've got a friend w/ a 99 Civic EX, B18C3 (SiR-G) installed with a four speed automatic transmission. Obviously, the engine is an SiR-G, but he's still able to use his automatic transmission and he revs all the time to nine grand. He's had a lot of internals work done, SUPPOSEDELY, but he won't tell me the specifics. I've ridden in it, and for a non-domestic automatic, it's a monster.
