Default Best engine to swap into 4th gen honda accord EX

I have an LX automatic, but i will shortly be buying an EX manual model to modify. At the moment i am inexperienced with powertrains and transmissions as i am just now starting mechanic school. I would like to know which is the best engine as far as pure speed and power to put in my car. I'd like to keep AC and power steering if at all possible. I've seen shots of accords with H22's that have zero AC and power steering. Is there spacial considerations with that engine in that car? I'm pretty sure its impossible to fit the later gen accord v-6 engines in there. Then again, i'm no expert.

Things to be considered are the difficulty of the swap, price of engine and mount conversions (possibly labor costs, depends on if i can gain enough experience and find a job at a suitable shop), and is the stock 5 speed manual tranny the only tranny available?

I am just in the planning process for ricing out my car, so any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

h22a is pretty much the best swap for that car. a v6 out of a newer accord wouldn't fit, and aren't even fast and there's not much aftermarket for them. If you're in mechanic school, you should plan on doing the labor yourself, it isn't too hard just learn as you go along. you can pick these motors up used for anywhere between 1000 and 2000. i'm not sure about if you need motor mounts or not, if so they usually run around 300-400. you might be able to get ac and power steering to fit, most people take it out cause it takes away from the power.

how much power can AC and PS take? My AC stays off 75% of the time anyway, windows-down action is much better. Live in florida, so weather's pretty good.

H22 is off late 90's preludes correct? i assume the same tranny from that vehicle stays with the engine. what about axles and stuff?

power steering and ac actually take quite a bit of valuable horsepower away. it doesn't matter if you are using your ac, it still has to spin the belt and you still have the weight of the ac stuff. and power steering there is just no need for. but if you want it you'll still be ok, just get a little extra power without it. the h22a1 is out of the 93-96 prelude vtec. The h22a4 is out of the 97up prelude. the second of the two will cost you a lot more to get a hold of. you use the axles that go with the car the motor comes from i think. You might need a aftermarket one, i'm not sure.

they got a euro accord engine that's 220 hp...looks about the same size and dimensions as h22 and f22's 2 me. expensive as hell though. I've heard that euro accords are basically what an acura is here.
