I was think if it would be possible to have the Tech forums in different catagories.. N/A & FI.

Maybe an Engine Building forum under Tech aswell?

I'd like too see some of this happen.

What do you guy think?

Any input would be great.

Look at how active (or rather INactive) this forum is. If there were fifty serious techy questions per day then I could see dividing it up as needed into smaller forums, but until then I say leave it be.

This has been a point of discussion for a short while now amongst the moderators. I have two points against it.

One, we don't really have the traffic, IMHO, to warrant subdividing the forum.

Two, I would really prefer not to divide into FI and NA sections unless the traffic became so overwhelming that division was neccessary. That, from my observations and experience, tends to divide the knowledge base of the forum. While FI inclined people may surf the NA forum, they're less likely to post.

In the future, when the site becomes more technical, as it has slowly for a while now, I would probably divide into a Tech forum and a Tuning forum... and/or an Engine Building forum as you suggested. That way, you get a couple of forums that everyone is using, rather than some forums that half the people use and others for the rest.

Great stuff.

Suggested the breaking up of the tech forum b/c when I click into the forum it seems to drive me away since there is just a clutter of post.

And MANY of us are either NA or FI... so the users would like to see more of their own?

Get my drift?

And engine building b/c no one else has one.

Right now this forum is serving as kind of a catch-all for troubleshooting posts, n/a tuning and FI tuning. Mainly because there's not a lot of traffic.

On the one hand we can say, "we'll split it up when there's more traffic."

On the other hand we can listen to what the voice says in Field of Dreams, "if you build it, they will come."

I'd say for the time being I'm still waiting for traffic to pick up just a bit. Once we get some signs that more folks who would actually talk about these subjects are starting to sniff around, it's definitely a possibility that we will split the forum up into different sections.

I don't necessarily think we need to wait 'til this particular forum is overwhelmed, but I'd like to see it pick up a bit more before we break it up. Otherwise we might kill traffic altogether because none of the new forums will have enough knowledgeable people looking at them to sustain discussion.

So...if you got a bunch of buddies that want to talk about this stuff, bring em over here!

That is also another point of view.

I have invited many of my buddies. 8-)
