noob question, cutting hoses

Default noob question, cutting hoses

first is it ok and second should i just use an "exacto" knife? this is reffering to radiator hoses

ya its ok to do that man just make sure you cut it pretty straight. give yourself a little room too cuz i just cut my buddies radiator hose due to a wreck. i used a razor blade so good luck man.

I've had good luck with tools of this style:

Local hardware store probably has them, automotive goods store might let you borrow the store one, bring your hose to the store...

Cut it straight! Mine was cut crooked and I didn't realize it and my car kept over heating. I ended up replacing the hose becuase I noticed that there would be a little antifreeze on the cooling fan shroud. So far the new hose is working great.

I use a utility knife :dunno:

It seems to me that as long as you get a nice tight fit, and secure the clamp you should be ok.
