hondata users
I have read the entire Hondata website up and down, and have made my decision to run a 2b on my d16y8 turbo project. I have only talked to dealers about the product and have heard nothing but nice things. However, I have not been able to talk to a true user of the product and wanted to know what you guys think about it. Is is worth it? Was it pretty easy to have tuned? etc. Just tell me what you think about it. One more thing since I have already made my up my mind I do not want to hear about the Power FC, as somebody seems to be following me around the forums posting how much he likes it and how they think it is way better then any hondata product. I am aware of the obd2 conversion harness and alredy have a p28 ecu waiting to be hooked up to that little blue box. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Just in case you needed to know what i am running...
Custom manifold (ceramic coated)
T3/T4 i believe it is 54 trim also ceramic coated turbine section
HKS Wastegate
Greddy Type S BOV
Greddy Turbo Timer
Greddy Profec B
SPEC stage 2 clutch
custom downpipe
450cc injectors
possibly Greddy Type 31 IC
2" piping
All other fuel components are stock.
If there is anything else that you believe may be useful let me know. I plan on running 7-8 psi on street and am trying to get this all done within a month.

For me it ended up being much cheaper to get an AEM programmable engine management system than get a conversion harness, an ECU, socket the ECU, and then add on the Hondata system. BUT, I was looking at a stage 4 system with an EPROM programmer. If you are just looking to have someone else tune your system and get it going, Hondata is IMHO right for you.
However, especially with a turbo car I would strongly think about the stage 3 instead of the stage two. For a couple hundred bucks more you get that stutterbox, and that will enable you to have your turbo spooled right off the line.
Two inch piping?

the 2" piping is from the turbo to the intercooler and 2.25" from the intercooler to the intake manifold. the exhaust has 2.5" and should be fine with my low boost application. stage 3 is very nice but out of my budget right now, remember i can always upgrade when i am ready, but when i do i will upgrade to stage 4 with datalogging and eprom editor. i love the stage 3 and that when you shift gears it keeps it under boost
