Default low fuel light stays on....

Peoples....

i got a 2000 LX-V6.... i filled it up with regular ... and started it.

the low fuel light did not go off..... although the fuel gauge went to FULL.

NO problems ever with this car... dealer maintained... garage kept.

checked fuses... all good. any other suggestions on what it could be?

THANKS!

I think the warning light is a separate circuit back to the sender in the tank. There's a contact that closes when it's near empty? I don't think it's actually a separate float. That contact is stuck closed or maybe the wire is worn thru & touching ground SOMEWHERE...

jim...

thanks for hitting me back.

if it were the float i wouldnt get an accurate reading on the fuel gauge.

i shook the car alittle... thinking some valve or something got stuck... but nothing.

im thinking the sensor just went bonkers on me. sucks too... since i just came out my 36k warranty.

if there are anymore suggestions.. please feel free to post them... i am gonna go in on my next oil change.. and see what they say.

THANKS~

Right, I don't think it's the actual float. But I think the switch for the warning light is on the same assembly - it doesn't have its own separate float. Got a wiring diagram & a DMM?

Repair manuals (Helm is best) have wiring diagrams. DMM is just a digital multi-meter - $20 RadioShack.

I've heard of ars before, where if you didn't fully close the gascap, it would set a light, that only the dealership can erase.

Dunno, try pulling your ECU fuse for 2 minutes and letting it reset.

thanks for your suggest Phiz...

i tried... but to no avail. i pulled the fuse and let it reset but the light stays on. i am almost at half a tank of gas now... and the trip counter, which i reset at every fillup, is reading about 100... which is horrible for my honda. i usually get about 300 out of the tank.

any other suggestions?

thanks!
