Default Clicking Hell

I got a 96 civic 4dr manual and when its idling or in gear it makes this disgusting clicking sound. i dont know where its comin from. someone told me its lifters but i was wondering if anyone else has had the same prob thanks

Does the clicking sound get louder and faster as you rev the engine higher and give it more gas?

yeah it like clicks louder the engine revs and when the rpms come down also. it sort of sounds like when you touch a stick on the side of a bikes spokes when the wheel turns but loud as hell

Honda I4's don't have lifters, so it's definately not that.

no i havent adjusted my valves or anything. i think its just cause i beat the hell out of my car badly!! i haventdone anything new to it recently at all. well actually i hit a friggin beaver two months ago but its only been in the last two weeks and it gets louder day after day. no one round here knows what the hell it is im stuck and gonna blow my engine prob

is there a link or anything that can tell me the specs to adjust them to cause ill try that. it wont hurt

Buy a Helm, Chiltons, or Haynes manual. It has all that and much more. I'd give you the specs, but I don't have a manual for a car that new.
