too lazy to retype my problem but heres a link that explains everything, basically put new bearings in transmission, and now im stuck in first gear in all gears, yet i can still shift into all gears on the shifter side. 1,2,3,4,5,reverse, neutral = 1st gear
no grinds or funny noises..

It sounds like the 1st/2nd gear synchro ring fell into 1st gear while you were assembling it. As you've learned, it's very important to make sure the transmission remains in neutral during assembly. Otherwise, as you now know, the tranny will get stuck in one gear.

ok so is that the problem? neutral is that first photo on the link correct?

how do you get the halves together then, without shifting it to second gear? you know how it gets stuck as you put the halves together.

but im not sure this is the problem.. since i am able to shift through all gears when the trans is closed?? i know because i can hear and see the shaft move back and forth without a problem and without getting stuck.
