Default Which brand hand tools to get??

Ok
I want to get a good set of mechanics (basic) tools. The Home Depot has some decent deals on their Husky brand.

Would that be a good way to go or should I go with Craftsman?

I'm thinking Snap-on would be too expensive for a basic DIY'er.

Thanks.

Sears carries a $99 metric Craftsman set that has just about everything you need. That's what I would recommend.

Snap-on is good for specialized tools, but I wouldn't use a complete set while working on cars. Planes and heavy equipment, sure.

I use craftsman and snapon. Sears carries some great kits with most of the parts your need. You'll basically need screwdrivers, magnetic screwdriver, and a socket set. A good kit should come wtih all that plus a socket extension.

I'll have to make a trip to Sears in the near future. Their tools never go on sale do they?

I use a mixture of tool brands, my screwdrivers are a bunch of no-name units, but my important junk is mostly Husky. No problems whatsoever.

My grandpa and dad have always used Craftsman, mainly because of the uncondition warranty. I took a socket in with a lugnut stuck inside (long story) and they gave me a replacement right then and there.

At home I have a set of Craftsman tools. Can't beat the price. At my shop I have all Husky tools but Snap On torque wrenches. I like the feel of the Husky stuff and have never broken a wratchet or wrench. I have broken the Craftsman wratchets a few times.
