between the two motors i definately like the b18b over my b16a. the vtec was nice and sounded awesome but the power still doesn't compare to the b18b. its got more low end fun.

how much did u pay for the complete b18b swap. im in the market for one in the next month or so. i have a hatch as well and am curious to know if the b18b really is my best option. which would u say is faster the b18b or the b16a. i kno u said u like the b18b better but can the b16a keep up with the b18b or vice versa. which motor is faster in the 1/4 mile?

I never ran mine yet but the B16A will get you a much better time. I had a B18A B4 & ran a low 16. Motor was some crap I found out later. The B18B is good to get you out the whole but the B16A might not get you out the gate faster but mid & top end that's what the Vtec good for. With a B16 in your hatch you should see mid 14's to low 15's.You definately won't see 14's w/ just I,E,H. Now if you put a Vtec head on & get your bottom end to handle the high reving of Vtec, then the fun will begin, low end torque plus high reving. One more thing redline7.1 vs 8.2. get those numbers down

results for my car:
jdm b16a = 16.0 1/4 mile
-hondata stage 2
-dc header
-tanabe racing medalion cat back
-cheap short ram
-solo short throw

USDM b18b = 15.4 1/4 mile
-apex'i ws2
-cheap short ram
-exedy stage 2 clutch
-exedy 12 lbs flywheel
-good suspension
-edelbrock short throw

now, the b16a was in a 99 coupe and the b18b is in a 95 hatch so there is a weight difference, and i still suck at launching. but the b18b is quicker in my opinion.

the b18b swap with all parts installed ran me about 3500 i think, can't remember

i found that easing out the clutch at 3300 rpm and feathering it after it drops to 2800-2900 makes for a very good launch on my friends ek9 with same set up as urs
just aem sri i was able to do a 15.2 so keep practicing

My b16a2 I had a 14.7 in the 1/4, in a 98 coupe at 2200-2300lbs. (me out of it)
Now I'm gonna do a gsr bottom end with 11.5 compression, so in a few weeks I'll give you those times.
