12.6 in the 1/4 yesterday

would I run BFG drags on the street? Not for practicality's sake, they wear too fast. Bottom line is they are classified as street tires.

h:There are three kinds of tires: street tires, drag radials, and slicks even though one may or may not be approved for street use.
Your sig is misleading imho.

I run a 12.6 on actual street tires: Falken Ziex 205/45/16s
So Mickey Thompson ET Streets are really 'street tires' by your definition?
No, they aren't. They are a wrinkle wall slick.
They have little 1/16 inch deep slits in them to dissipate about a spoonful of water prior to hydroplaning, therefore being DOT approved.
If I claimed to run 12.5 on street tires with my current power level, but I used ET streets (and this time is entirely possible), I'd be a big fvcking liar. Say drag radials.

There are two types of tires in racing, DOT and non DOT, what is your problem? If you want the racing world to recognize a third type of tire, then start campaigning your cause. Once I start running slicks, my sig will state that my times were run with slicks, since I am still running a street tire, my sig will state that I am running a street tire.
the trap has absolutely nothing to do with tires. I trapped at 109mph on factory bone stock Bridgestones, and that tire is not the greatest. A local homey trapped at 110 at a different drag strip on Azenis. The mph has everything to do with the power you are making, and gearing. A bad holeshot will usually net higher trap speeds than a good one as well...in my experience... and believe me I've had plenty of bad hole shots..I'm not a professional, believe it or not, I just do this for fun and relaxation.

ET streets are DOT approved tires.
The only difference between them and your non-DOT 'slicks' is the addition of a few tiny (barely visible) slits in the tire. No real difference in traction for the same size tire. Just legal to drive to the strip on.
If you call these 'street tires' you are brain damaged.
Maybe you should start your own racing sanctioning body, and then you can make up your own rules, you can have about 500 classes for each brand and type of tire you want, you can have a class for Z rated tires, for Kmart tires, for whatever you want.
Until then it will be DOT , and non DOT...
If you start losing an argument, there is no sense starting to call people brain damaged, it just shows that you haven't done your research.
It takes more than just slits to make a tire DOT approved, the manufacturer must also test the tire with the weight of a car, read the small print on any DOT tire. No matter how you try to spin this any DOT tire is a street tire, any non DOT tire is a race only tire that hasn't been tested for street use.
This obviously doesn't mean I'm going to run 'cheater' slicks on the street, although I legally could if I felt like it...
