1st "race" against a Honda.

When I said "mighty VTEC" I was being sarcastic. I've not been impressed with the VTEC fours that I've driven, which would be a 99(?)Prelude, a 2000 Civic Si, and a 2004 Civic Si. I figured they'd have awesome low end and awesome top end, which would seem to be the point of variable valve timing. Nope, they still had crappy low end (the Prelude wasn't so bad) just even MORE top end than a regular high-revving four.

a good example is the Spec V, all of those dudes that i raced were shifting 2 extra times before i was done with 3rd at around 90.
as far as crappy low end, my throttle is only crappy below 3k rpms, which is almost like 0 on my tach, and i keep the revs up even with daily driving so it sounds like a beehive coming down the street.
i think a 4g h22a1 lude or GSR would change your mind about VTEC

im picking up on your sarcasm
believe it or not gas mileage is still over 20 even while rallying in VTEC mode.
otherwise (below 5000 rpms) its absolutely splendid.
VTEC is not a crutch either, most of the time when im driving at work i shift right before the crossover point and still merge with absolutely no problem. The VTEC roar can get annoying when u drive around the city all day, but it comes in handy when i see a dumbestic trying to make moves on the highway
