I did it to my JDM one-pieces and it's definitely worth it. I used the oven technique. 200 degrees, check after 20 minutes. I supposed the higher temp would've worked, but this was better on my conscience. I didn't spray paint, but used my wife's paint brush with exterior paint. Worked out well, IMO.

Well, that's because your del Sol makes most of its light output by using the reflector behind the headlight. If you painted over this, which apparently you did, you're kinda screwed. HIDs would increase light output by a lot, but $500 is a lot to pay. You might wanna try to strip the paint off if you can or pick up a new pair at a junk yard.

Look at what ThaJazz did...that's the point of this exercise. To make the fringes black. Not the whole headlight

Great job Jazz

Thanks 98coupe! I don't know if paint stripper would work if you made a mistake, though. The reflective portions are tempermental and can peel off with tape. Be careful!

Yeah, I was just throwing something out to avoid telling him that he was screwed.

I'm in the process of painting mine right now. I'm trying out Tamiya Gunmetal Paint (Code TS-38). It looks great... we'll see how it holds up.

what you could do it spray some clear coat on to it, or even chrome paint. that will make it reflect like new again. you can do both. i would rather not paint that part at all, but if you did it already, your screwed. when you work with DIY's you are bound to run into some problems. I am planning to paint mine, do i paint the bottom of the reflectors too. should i square it off or just go with the round part. Kinda hard to explain, please post some very very close up pictures of the headlights. If any one need's help with DIYS pm me. HAVE FUN

I know we said we'd have some pics up last week, but we didn't have the paint. I got the Dupi-Color Gunmetal paint from Wal-Mart the other day and we'll be doing this DIY with some pics either this week or weekend.

Pics soon.
