Replacing stock headlights with new stock pair
I got some new stock headlights for my 94 integra and want to take the old ones out and put these in. Now im not a car pro that knows how to do lots of stuff but i think i can do this myself. I looked under the hood and it seems like a bunch of stuff is in the way... including my cold air intake pipe... Can i get some help on how to do this replacement and like an estimate on the tools and how much time it'll take(i dont wanna start and not finish the same day cus i need car to drive to class) If you have pics that would be awesome but i bet u dont. anyways any help is awesome. thnx.
I know exactly what you mean although we don't have the same car. I have the 92 Honda Civic Si sedan model and just last week my front light blew. I popped the hood and everything was in the way and called my friend over to try and help me replace it. IMPOSSIBLE. You'll need screwdrivers (I'm a girl so I don't know the names of the tools so please bare with me). The screwdriver you will need is the cross shaped head, wrenches (all different sizes for all the different bolts, more of the smaller ones though), LOADS of light, and an assistant (possibly 3). Also one of those things to lift your car a little higher, tonnes of soap and water to wash your hands afterwards!
By the way, I just got mine done tonight and I only watched as 3 men did it and took about 2 and a half hours. It took this long because the bolts were really tight, taking ages to unscrew and the uncertainty of what to do. Hopefully it takes you less time.
You had to unscrew the bolts which hold the actual light in place as well as all the screws which hold together your front bumper (this is where the assistants come in handy). There's I think 6 screws that hold my bumper (might be different for your car) as well as 2 more on the sides underneath. You'll need to crawl under the car to unscrew these using the wrenches for the bolts and screwdrivers for the screws. You'll need to then jiggle the light (not bulb) to wriggle it out as it won't just slide out. Mine took a while as the bulb has never been replaced, the original manufacturer's bulb was still there and things had gone rusty and tough. There are also some more screws which hold the light in the socket of the front of your car. I can't remember where all the screws are which isn't helpful to you but I found that if you just jiggle it a bit, you'll find where there are still more screws holding it in. You'll know when there's none left because it wriggles in it's socket heaps.
Once you pull the actual light out of it's socket (the indicator block of light will also come out), you'll have to get someone to hold it while you pull all the wires out. There's a black cap with red wires coming out and you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pop it out. Your manual will say to squeeze both sides to pull it out but all 3 men tried and it did not budge. By the way we didn't damage anything...as far as I know
. Once this black cap attached by red wires comes loose, there is also a black rubber seal which just pops off. The lightbulb is attached to the rubber seal so be careful to not break it.
My manual said to squeeze both sides to release the bulb but we just pulled it straight out (took them about an hour to figure that out -_-"). Replace the bulb and screw everything together. I make it sound so simple but trust me, if you've never done it before you might want to leave a whole day, preferably the weekend to do this. I did mine at night time and it was a killer. Do it in the day time if you can. My bulb costed me $6.95 AUD and can be bought almost anywhere. I just got mine from the petrol station down the road.

lol it took 3 guys 2 1/2 hours to replace your headlights in a 92 civic. oh and they took out the headlights to replace just a bulb. OMG thats funny right there.
anyways back to topic. to replace your integra headlights you will need to remove your ft bumper, and since your not really mechaniclly inclinded, you might want to take it to a body shop and get them to replace it for you.
or what part of texas are you in? I will be in laredo at the end of the month and could help you, but if you not close at all then find some friends to help you, I am sure you have a bunch of guys in your town who work on cars. If i was you I would do it on a saturday so that way you can get it done in time for monday
heres some tools you will need.
phillips screwdriver, 10mm wrench and socket, 12mm wrench and socket, socket ratchet, extensions
and why are you replacing your headlights? or do you just need new bulbs? or is your headlights cloudly? (thats a easy fix without replacing them)
