i just got a 94 honda accord ex, and i want to do the blackhousing headlights??? theres other thread that tell u how but thre all on Civic's that got a 2 piec's in the headlight, but i dont know how i could do the accord ones??????

 

I've been trying to search for it on the net, because I know that I have read a complete step by step on how to do make your own accord jdm's. But I'm at work and it's now time to leave. So keep searching, either you will find it, or someone will know where to find it. But for sure it's there because i've seen it. I haven't searched these threads, I found it on a webpage.

its pretty simple actually, same basic concept with the rest of them, here are the steps:

Materials:
-Dupli-color Heat resistant header paint, (flat black, you can buy from kragen for about 6$)
-Black Silicone from Kragen for about 6$ too(black in case it smears onto the black housing, then you wont notice it)
-Caulk Silicone thing i dont really know how to explain what it is but you might undertand what im talking about but this isnt really necessary so dont worry about it, its only for extra protection.

1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees for 5 minutes (i used low heat just in case)
2. place a damp towel in the oven after the preheat and place the headlight on top of the damp towel, with the lens facing down so it doesnt take direct heat.
3. after 5 minutes take it out and using a flathead, check if the silicone is soft enough to pry opem(from the bottom), if not, place it back in the oven for 5 minutes, i had to put it in a second time.
4. when prying, make sure that you open from the bottom in case it takes any little damage.
5. let the silicone dry because if you get it on the chrome part, it might be hard to get it off.
6. use painters tape, the blue kind that sticks well but doesnt leave any sticky stuff on it, tape the area the light reflects off of, it may be good to find a picture of the real black housing lights to get an idea of how much u want to tape.
7. i used duplicolor heat resistant paint, the kinds for headers, it resists up to 1200 degrees i think and put really really light coats. i used flat black becuase we tried gloss on my friends accord, and it looked nasty, flat black makes it look like the real ones.
8. give it 3-5 minutes between each coat to dry, and apply about 5-6 coats total, or until it reaches the black that you want. let it dry and take the tape out.
9. if you want, remove the dry silicone so that when putting the lights back together, it fits easier.
10. i used black silicone to reseal in case it smeared onto the housing, it isnt noticable, it is okay to use alot cus the more that it squishes around, the better it holds. get clamps, and clamp them together for a few hours and let the silicone dry.
11. after silicone dried, u can scrape off any excess silicone and if you want extra protection against water, i used the silicone/caulk thing that people use for the house. go around the headligths (thin coat, and i rubbed it with my finger, just go aroudn it once) just to be safe that there are no water leaks.
12. let it dry, i am not 100% sure how long it takes to dry becuase we only did that once(on the last set we did), and we went out while it dried and came back a few hours later.

if by any chance that you get a water leak, just place the lights back in the oven and reseal if needed.

i'll make a thread later in case you dont see this, here is a pic of real black housing so you know how much to paint and tape.
