Default DIY newbie

i jsut bought a civic (black 97 4dr ex) last summer. Im not looking to do anything crazy to it... since ive never really fancied modded 4dr cars. Although i dont mind a few things here and there. Im jsut looking to do some projects on the car that are simple. Im just starting out on this sort of stuff although my brothers been pretty active with his integra. I want to do soem things on my own and learn some things without asking him too much..

Im planning on installing a kill switch in my car with his help as the first project. I was wondering if u guys have any DIY projects that dont require too much skill that i can use as learning guides. anytihng in the interior that doesnt cost too much or can be done without cost. Im broke and jobless. Thanks in advance.

How bout installing an aftermarket car deck. Pretty easy to do and you learn how to take apart your dash, and also solder and stuff like that. Also improves your sound and look

What about fitting a starter switch? It is very trick and pretty easy to do.

If you are interested, I have ones similar to those in the Honda S2000.

If you buy one of the starter switches I sell I will give you full step by step fitting instructions.

Do a search on yahoo about a kill switch that disables your fuel pump. I have seen the walkthrough and it seems like the best and cheapest way to install a switch that totally disables your car.

Painting your interior is another option and can be done on a relatively small budget. I used a paint called Krylon gutted my dash and interior panels and painted with this stuff. I used around 6 cans at the price of $7 each (Canadian). You can get it at Canadian Tire, or whatever the American equivalent is. There's a thread on interior painting on HAN already you may want to check out. Just follow instructions and spray evenly. I did this 2 years ago and the paint still looks good after enduring the Canadian winters and summers.

Hey thanks for the ideas guys, so far installing a car deck has always been something i wanted to do except right now i simply cannot afford one that i think will b worth it. Currently i have a 10 disc sony cd changer installed but it came with the car when i bought it. I could possibly sell that but then i dont know if its worth it. Installing a start button, no offense, although some people find it appealing, as do i, but in my car i dont thnk it would look all that great.

As for the fuel pump cut off:

Shmoo i found this one on these forums,
http://www.teamdelsolwa.com/howto/fuelcutoff.htm

Lastly, I have a question: when i bought the car, the cupholder cover that wont stay down because the little needle thing that goes down (i dont know wat its called so i ahvent been able to find a replacement!!) to latch the cover down is broken. If i knew what it were called id be able to find a replacement probably. Ill try to find a picture.. but im not sure if i can. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know asap its killing me.. and it covers up my casette player (not tht i use it.. but just for apperance)!

Please keep the ideas coming. Iam aiming at the car deck next! my bday is coming up

Just say "no" to krylon.. Unless of course you want the hard-ricer look, then its all good.

That is the DIY I was referring to. It sounds good. I will probably do it sometime down the road when I have time to waste.
