switching power antenna for a manual...need help!-94 accord
the mast on my 94 accord power antenna snapped a while ago so i dc the antenna so now it just stands up...but its a little bent and the telescopics are messed up...so i bought a honda manual antenna to make it look better..i know how to get to the antenna in the car by taking out the panels..but the problem is how do i get the old antenna out and the new in? it looks like i need to reuse some hardware from the orig. antenna? and how do i get the antenna wire to connect to the antenna? thanks for your help!
it should just swap out. just remove the panels, disconnect the power antenna motor and antenna wire(thick black wire), unbolt the brackets off of the power antenna motor, and unscrew the the nut on the outside of the car(when you look at the antenna, its the chrome nut with slots in it. the antenna mast comes out of the middle of it, and you may want the force the mast down or break it off cuz the whole assembly comes out of the car from the inside). you may need a special key, but a needle nose and calm nerves can do it too. just take your time so you don't scratch your car. then place the new one in the hole, and screw in the nut you took off of the outside(the chrome one again, you might get a new one with the new antenna). the connection should be the same for the antenna wire, but omit the motor harness(just tape it up). why don't you just get a replacement mast cuz it may be easier and looks cleaner to keep the power antenna.
